Some of us have to get hit over the head before they start taking better care of themselves.
Are you one of them?
You can be honest with yourself. Nobody knows but you.
You see, I was one of them.
There was a time I was wearing so many hats—roles and duties pushed upon me, that I had very little time for myself. Not to mention take better care of myself.
This all changed after I lost my husband.
Here I was alone, in a foreign country, with three children—one disabled, and nobody to turn too for help.
For a while everything went well, but this soon changed.
My stress was slowly getting the better of me and with it came the consequences.
Now, in addition to the things I was already worrying about, I really had something to worry about, “Who would take care of my son if something would happen to me?”
I knew the other children would be taken care of, but what about the child who was helpless like a baby.
Out of this fear, I decided to start taking better care of myself.
And, I’m glad I did.
Without doing so I couldn’t have taken care of my son for the remainder of his life.
So, in ode to my conviction of practicing self care—no matter what your duties are in life, here are my top 16 inspirational self care quotes:
“With every act of self-care your authentic self gets stronger, and the critical, fearful mind gets weaker.

“I had a son who was disabled…, he couldn’t take care of himself. But after the loss of my husband reality hit me in the face.
