Well, getting personal, it’s not what you think.
Maybe you’re wondering why my site was down for a while. Long story short, I encountered a technical issue and most of my content disappeared.
Ironically, this was a blessing.
In the past, because I represented the Peter Hess Institute, the content I posted was based on the Peter Hess® Sound Massage.
The down time gave me time to think.
But, there is more. Something that has been brewing for a while.
Well…today is a bit different.
I want to pull back the curtain and share something more personal.
Here it goes.
I was recently out with girlfriends celebrating several birthdays. One was mine (April 12). I almost didn’t go because I knew the usual questions would come up “How does it feel to be a year older?” (Never quite understood why I should feel different from one day to the next just because a number has changed).
But I went anyway.
And as you can guess, when it was my turn I simple replied, “The same as I did last year around this time.”
Some of the more recent girlfriends didn’t know (yet) about the strong feelings I have about my birthday!
This got me thinking about how I should share some of it with you.
You will see why as you read further.
All of my close friends know that I think of my birthday as my own personal New Year. I always celebrate my birthday…even if I don’t like how fast life is going and how quickly I’m getting older.
I think of it as a time for reflection — of letting go, growing, changing and expanding.
I think about my last year and the goals I had set for myself — the things I wanted to change, the things I wanted to do and accomplish. I also thing about what I want to change, do and accomplish in the coming year…personally and professionally. My friends laugh with me and at me, they celebrate with me and they may not always admit it…but I think I get them to think about their personal “New Year” also.
Here are just a few examples of past years for me. I’ve made personal and professional goals for…
- Places to travel ( in the past I mainly travel to Germany to visit my dad and/or attend training seminars. It’s time to see more of the world)
- Stick to my morning and evening rituals (I know what happens when I skip a day or two.)
- Walk at least 10000 steps a day
- Stop eating foods that contain gluten and lactose (easier said than done. it’s so hard to stay away from bread and cheese)
- Work less, play more (yes, I’m a recovering Type A workaholic)
- Release the book I wrote in 2012 (Turning Points: Lessons Learned From Experience)
- Finish the five books I started over the years (From Stress to Success; My German Travel Log; …Entrepreneur; etc.)
- Refine the 4 Pillars of Health Coaching Program
- Create a new product/program around healing sound vibration methods
- Keep the inside of my car cleaner
- Push through the barrier of liking myself in video recordings (I have no problem being in front of life audiences, but when it comes to posting videos…)
- Stay focused
- Teach others what I know
- Be in unconditional love…
…and the list goes on.
Some big goals and some small, but all with the intention of creating something new.
Changing it up so to speak.
Anyway, this past year wasn’t a “big number” year, but it felt hugely different. (To be honest, several months before I actually decided to go into early/part-time retirement.) But…
I found myself having BIG paradigm shifts in my life and the way I look at my business. And, I don’t think it has anything to do with turning 60 (yikes, I just admitted my age).
Maybe it’s making plans for my (semi-) retirement (looking for ways to run a part-time business from anywhere in the world), attending several high level life-training events, meeting awesome people (some became my mentors), feeling frustrated about the false information on the internet, having unfinished projects starring me in the face…or maybe its my age…or maybe it’s the new start in life that went sour after…who knows!
You may be asking, “Margit, it’s been a while since your last year’s ‘New Year,’ and you’re already into this year’s ‘New Year,’ why are you telling us this now?”
What I didn’t tell you is that I made this year about YOU!!
As many of you have noticed, I dropped the Peter Hess Academy and I am revamping the way I do business and am focusing on what YOU have told me over the years what you would like to see me offer or address.
Hence, the weekly blog, the weekly “Ask Me A Question” format, the bonuses in my new training packages, the Boot Camp, the video library, follow ups in my coaching sessions and the Play- and Workbook.
There is still more to come! I’m always interested to know what you wish for me to provide, so keep the ideas coming.
But..(The infamous “But”)…
There is one REALLY BIG request you have made that I’ve been holding back on – for YEARS, despite many of your pleadings and outcries.
I’m contemplating changing my mind and giving you what you’ve asked for since, like, the beginning of time.
But I’m nervous because it means sharing with you more of myself and my business than I have in the past.
And I’m also going to need your help.
Anyway, that REALLY big request is…(stay tuned until next time)

P.S.: I’ll be back with more details in a couple of days. But until then, tell me in the comments where you’re headed this summer. Any goals for your personal “New Year”? Does anyone else do this nonsense.
